We sprinted the last 10km to the ferry to Langeland and caught it just as the doors were closing, saving a couple of hours wait.

We cycled across the island of Tasinge, detouring to Valder Marslot - a castle along the way. We didn't stop at the castle apart from having a coffee. The waitress was annoyed because we insisted on parking our bikes against the restaurant fence rather than putting them in the bike racks. She took her revenge by giving us disgusting coffee.

The cottage was in a small village about 10km before Faaborg and was owned by an American chef and his Danish wife.

We had cycled every day of the trip, either touring or a day ride and were overdue for a break. We took the bus to Faaborg and spent the day strolling round the streets and harbor.

The island of AEro is a fairly long ferry ride. It is primarily a tourist destination. We stayed in a cottage owned by another nice old lady, it was basic but clean and pleasant enough.

There is a pleasant bike route that follows the coast around the island. We arrived at AEroskobing, at the far end of the island in late morning. It is a very attractive town with cobbled streets and beautiful houses. There was a great looking restaurant but it wasn't yet open for lunch. We were tempted to wait but decided to push on to Marstal, assuming it would be similar.

Marstal is charmless with bitumen roads and only fast food joints. It was too far to cycle back over the steep hill to AEroskobing so we bought the makings for a picnic lunch at the supermarket and ate at a table on the wharf.
