You often want to make multiple copies of a cell. The example below shows how you can fill a range.

  • Select the cell containing the formula you want to copy

  • Move the cursor over the little black square at the bottom right corner of the cell ( its correct when the cursor changes to the little black cross)

  • Keep the mouse button depressed and drag down
Click the Button to Play >

Notice that the formula in each cell has updated its cell references, in the same way as it did with the copy operation.

Note also that you are not restricted to filling just one column at a time. You could have selected a row of several cells and dragged them all down at once.
