The trip to Poreta was our first real experience of cycling in Italy. We were on a busy main road for the first section but the cars and trucks were all courteous, hanging back until they could pass safely and we did not feel threatened.

Nevertheless it was a relief to leave the busy road at Pontecuti, below Todi.

Todi, like most towns in the region is on top of a hill; we stopped there at a trattoria for lunch.

The food was reasonably good but the owner made a fuss when we insisted on putting our bikes on the terrace where we could keep an eye on them. The waitress over-ruled him.
