Extreme Vertex Designs

The Extreme Vertex Design is a type of Mixture Design that is used when the constraints on the mixture do not create a triangular region for the experiment:

extreme vertex design

Note that a mixture design can have any number of constituents but it is convenient to illustrate the design as a mixture with three ingredients. This gives a triangle in which each corner represents one of the ingredients.

The Design of Experiments is covered in the MiC Quality basic Design of Experiments course and Advanced Design of Experiments course.
